Passion. Fire. Energy.
Those are just three words that describe Flamenco - a dance that originated in the Andaluzian region of Spain.
The music was upbeat and sensual with a driving rhythm.
The women were beautifully attired in long dresses of all sorts of fabrics and styles. From maroon velvet and satin, to traditional Spanish folk dress made out of cotton and lace. Outfits were made with bold colors such as red, blue, black, white, yellow, orange, and dark pink.
The men had shoulder length hair (think Antonio Banderas in the Mask of Zorro) with confidence and cockiness in their swagger. They also wore the perfect dress pant in my opinion.
The dances were passionate with a sort of push pull effect to it.
The timing was dead on. From the castanets, to the dancers' feet, to the mariachi band playing in the background.
One of the numbers included excerpts from Carmen.
Fabulous!
If you ever get a chance to see a Flamenco show. GO.
