So she finishes writing the post she just updated, and submits it, then reaches into her pack and says "I´m going to have a cookie!" Then starts to put the pack away and says "No I´m not. . .yes, no, uhh. . . yes I am." and gets the pack open again.
And this is the one that takes charge and makes decisions?
Yesterday after we finished figuring out where the trains went from Cologne we got our passes initialized, which turned out to be surprisingly easy, and returned to look at the times and locations then played our new favorite game: "Pick a train, any train!". It was fun, and the result was that we wound up in Koblenz by mid-afternoon.
We got off the train, and Adrienne glanced at the local departures list and said "A train leaves for Mainz in seven minutes". So we grabbed all our gear and jumped on board, without a second thought.
On our third leg we took a train from Mainz to Karlsruhe but there was a slight delay in the start time, so we didn´t get to Karlsruhe until almost 6 PM, and things were already starting to close. After some aimless wandering we finally found an internet point and used it to locate a hostel.
Karlsruhe is set up in an out-from-the-center pattern created around a large palace in the very middle of town. Very cool, and there is a huge and beautiful park north of it, that makes for some great walking. We strolled around this morning and found the world´s coolest playground complete with one of the most intriguing and fun climbing structures I´ve ever seen. We´ll try and upload pictures later.
We walked past the local Ann Franke house later in the morning but they don´t open up until this afternoon, so we couldn´t go in and ask what it was doing here, instead of in Amsterdam, where we think the original was located.
We are jumping on the train for Freiburg and we´ll see where we wind up tonight. We might even squeeze in Austria and Switzerland if we can manage it.
