I'm headed to Asia. Tomorrow.
I'll be back the first week of August. My itinerary includes Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines, Singapore and Australia.
I am taking various writing related tools with me, as well as a couple of cameras and a few good books. I hope to collect some insights (or at least an epic story or two) to tell along the way. I'll be posting here periodically. Since free WIFI is now available at some hostels, and I'll have a tiny laptop with me during this trip, I hope to write at least as consistently as Adrienne and I did during Europe.
Answers to a few frequently asked questions:
Yes, all my international airline tickets have been purchased. Domestic tickets will be purchased on the ground. Some of my hostel reservations have already been made, others won't be made until I arrive.
No, I'm not afraid of going to South Korea or Indonesia or anywhere else. Even if I were, I'd go. A life ruled by fear is not a life worth living.
Yes, I'm going to try to meet up with a few friends while I'm there. I've got friends in the Pacific Rim islands, South Korea, and Perth Australia. With luck I'll meet up with them all.
No, I'm not going to die of malaria--I'm not going anywhere with a recommended regimen higher than "try real hard not to get bitten by the little blighters." (4).
Yes, I will be taking pictures. I hope to post them as I go.
No, I won't be taking video. At least, I don't think I will. My phone (coming along as my 'snapshot' camera), doesn't really do video very well, and I won't be able to upload it from the road anyway.
Yes, I said I was taking a tiny computer with me. It's one of these.
No, I won't eat everything I come across--but I'll probably come close.
Yes, I'm going to come back. Alive.
Well, that's it for now. I'll try to start the more story-type posts tomorrow, when I get to the Atlanta airport.

I found several studios with kitchens in Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand from now through July for $200 for the week. Let me know if you're interested.

we'll check & make sure "the boys" will be behaving themselves at the house, but then, you know them - no telling what kind of hijinks they'll be into while you're gone.
