After the busiest spring I can remember, I'm finally heading outside of the country for what my brain is calling my first "real" personal trip since the Covid-19 pandemic began. A trip to Vancouver last summer and various hops along the Eastern seaboard have not scratched the itch. Especially not after the precedents set by a trip to Japan in Winter 2018 followed by a month in France in 2019 (a trip I didn't really write about at all, sadly).
I'm currently flying from Pittsburgh to London Heathrow, where I'll meet up with Rachel and kill a couple of hours in the airport before catching a flight North to Edinburgh.
There we'll pick up our rental car and head west, and spend a week resting and relaxing on the Isle of Skye in a house we've found in the tiny town of Staffin on the northeast tip of the island.
It's been quite a while since I flew British air, but the flight crew have been pleasant, and I have a window seat (with no-one next to me? On a "completely full" flight? My luck runneth over, presumably because some other poor soul's runneth out). The vegan curry last night was quite good (and the mousse that came with it was genuinely impressive), but this morning's egg and cheese and chive wrap was a regrettable lump of gummy, moist wheat. I wonder if Rachel's breakfast on the flight in from DC fared any better?
Possibly we'll splurge on a proper lunch at Heathrow.
Update from the Heathrow lounge -- well, Rachel's flight was delayed, which might add a bit of stress, except that our departing flight is also delayed, so now we've got time to kill again. Not much though, we should be boarding in about an hour. Time to go find that lunch.

Super excited to see you picking this blog back up. I know the trip will be awesome, Scotland is one of our favorite destinations we have explored, I would love to go back and discover more in the future. Good luck with the left hand drive!
That last was from me, Dad. Not sure why Mom's name pops up, I'll check my Google settings. Hopefully I'll get them straight in the future.
(Seems to be some setting I have to dig around to figure out. Won't know until I hit confirm whether this one posted to my profile or Mom's.
Think I figured it out. It wasn't actually a Google sign in issue, it was a Blogger issue. Looks like it even went back and changed the ones I'd written before. At any rate have fun!
